Residential Flat Roof Replacement – Peel & Stick Membrane
Project Overview
Complete flat roof replacement on a residential property in Clifton, NJ. The old gravel-topped built-up roof had cracked and failed, causing water intrusion. Duraproof installed a modern peel-and-stick self-adhered membrane system — a premium residential flat roofing choice that provides a seamless waterproof barrier without open flames or hot asphalt.
Analysis
The existing roof showed severe alligatoring of the surface, open cracks along seams, and standing water from inadequate drainage. The underlying deck was structurally sound with only minor surface repairs needed. The homeowner wanted a clean, low-profile solution that would last 20+ years with minimal maintenance.
Process
Day 1: Full tear-off of old BUR roof, deck inspection and prep. Day 2: Tapered insulation and base sheet installation. Day 3: Cap sheet installation and all termination details. Completed in 3 days with zero open-flame processes.
Outcome
The homeowner now has a modern self-adhered flat roof with excellent reflectivity and a clean white finish. The tapered insulation eliminated ponding water entirely. No more leaks, no more interior damage. System carries a 20-year membrane warranty.
