Project Overview
Full paver driveway installation on a residential property in Wayne, NJ. The old cracked asphalt driveway was removed and replaced with a premium tumbled concrete paver field in a running bond pattern, bordered by a double course of natural granite cobblestones — delivering a sophisticated, high-end look that dramatically elevated the home curb appeal.
Analysis
The existing asphalt driveway had extensive cracking, heaving at tree root lines, and oil staining that had become an eyesore. The homeowner wanted a permanent premium solution that would add real estate value and could never crack the way asphalt does. Individually laid pavers flex with ground movement rather than cracking, and individual stones can be replaced if ever needed.
Process
Day 1: Demo and excavation. Day 2–3: Base installation and compaction. Day 4: Sand bedding and layout. Day 5–6: Paver field installation. Day 7: Cobblestone border. Day 8: Polymeric sand, compaction, and clean-up.
Outcome
The property now has a stunning premium paver driveway with a natural granite cobblestone border that immediately sets the home apart. The system is engineered to last 25–30+ years. Homeowner received a 5-year Duraproof installation warranty.

Materials Used
Concrete tumbled pavers (Grey blend, 6x9 and 9x9 mixed), natural granite cobblestone border pavers, 3/4" processed gravel base (8" compacted), concrete sand bedding layer, polymeric jointing sand, plastic edge restraints, galvanized spikes
Methods & Techniques
Asphalt demolition and removal. Subgrade excavated to 12" depth. Geotextile fabric laid. 3/4" gravel base installed in two lifts and compacted to 95% proctor. Concrete sand screed layer set at proper grade. Paver field laid in running bond pattern from center string line. Granite cobblestone border set around full perimeter. Edge restraints spiked at 12" intervals. Polymeric sand swept into all joints and activated. Surface compacted with plate vibrator.
